Steven Bultsma

Chief of Operations

Steven Bultsma has been with Summit Contracting since the very beginning. A Platte native, he joined the company in 2009 while still in high school, eager to learn the ropes from founders Tyler and Katy Samuelson. That early hands-on experience, combined with a degree in Construction Management, laid the foundation for his deep knowledge of the industry and his ability to lead in high-pressure environments.

Today, Steven serves as the Director of Field Operations. His role is centered around logistics and coordination, but no two days look the same. He oversees critical components of Summit’s work including water, sewer, concrete, and excavation, and is known for stepping in wherever needed to keep jobs on track. Whether managing the day-to-day hustle or problem-solving in the field, Steven’s steady leadership and willingness to help others reflect the very core of Summit’s values.

He enjoys living the country life near Platte, South Dakota with his wife Jenna and their three children. Outside of work, Steven enjoys spending time with his family and sharing his love of powersports with his kids.
