Summit Contracting Donates Grain Rescue Tube to Emery Volunteer Fire Department

Emery, SD — September 24, 2026 — Summit Contracting is proud to support the Emery Volunteer Fire Department with the donation of a grain rescue tube, providing the department with specialized equipment to assist in grain-bin emergencies throughout the Emery community and surrounding rural areas.

As a company working in and around rural communities, Summit Contracting understands the importance of having properly equipped volunteer emergency responders. Grain-related accidents can happen quickly, and having the right equipment readily available can be critical when firefighters are called upon to perform a rescue.

"We are proud to make this donation to the Emery Volunteer Fire Department," said Josh Kramp Director of Grain Sales at Summit Contracting. "The men and women who volunteer their time to protect their community deserve to have the equipment they need to do their jobs safely and effectively. We hope this grain rescue tube will be a valuable resource for the department and the people they serve."

The Emery Volunteer Fire Department, led by Fire Chief Travis Kampshoff, is a volunteer department serving the Town of Emery and the surrounding rural community. The department has approximately 35 active members and responds to roughly 100 calls each year.

The department serves an estimated 100-square-mile rural area, making specialized rescue equipment particularly valuable for responding to the variety of emergencies that can occur throughout the community.

Summit Contracting recognizes that volunteer fire departments rely heavily on community support to purchase and maintain the equipment necessary to respond to emergencies. Supporting those departments is one way Summit Contracting can give back to the communities where its employees, customers, and partners live and work.

Summit Contracting extends its appreciation to the Emery Volunteer Fire Department and its 35+ active volunteers for their continued service to Emery and the surrounding rural community.
